Blog 5: Lindley Ward

In this episode, Lindley mentions her thoughts about becoming a collegiate lacrosse coach. Her goal is to either be a graduate assistant or go straight into coaching with a program. This career path fits Lindley well. She has the demeanor to become a college coach; she can excel at it. Lindley is quite the student-athlete, and for her to pursue a coaching career continues to grow the game of lacrosse. The game needs to continue to filter former players into current coaches. Lindley is setting herself up for success by pursuing a career in coaching, and if that does not work out, she will still have the master’s degree to back it up. For Lindley to pursue a graduate assistantship it allows her to continue going to school and being around the game she loves. Her passion for coaching is what caught me by surprise. Some people are not interested in coaching following their playing career, but Lindley wants to do this. Becoming a collegiate coach comes with much responsibility, and considering she is close to the path now, this will only help her move forward. Whichever program she joins, they’ll be getting a good one.

Her love for the game of lacrosse drives her interest. She has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches at Piedmont. I have always believed that former players always make incredible coaches, and in Lindley's case, she will succeed as a graduate assistant or an assistant coach.
