Blog 10: Nathan Boyce

In the most recent episode of Kill the Lights: More Than Just an Athlete, I spoke to a senior relief pitcher on the baseball team, Nathan Boyce. Nathan is very intelligent, and that was evident early on. Nathan has already finished his degree in mathematics at the university and is pursuing a master’s in business. Nathan connected the dots for me, I will admit it took me a second to understand how well business and math go together. Nathan clarified that his business degree was to be used as an opportunity to be more appealing for jobs. Since he does have a degree in mathematics, this automatically makes him more appealing as an applicant to different positions. Nathan spoke about the high demand for individuals with a mathematics degree and the high job security in the field. Nathan briefly discussed his desire to stay home and work with Bridgestone Golf, which is nearby. Do you think college graduates make the right decision to stay home right after college? Nathan expressed his passion for golf. It is only fitting that he wants to start a career with golf. He spoke about his part-time gigs working at different courses. Do you believe working on the courses fueled his desire to pursue a career in the golf world?
